This system was developed to provide absolute accountability and quality control of nuclear fuel tube production. Only the laser portion of the system is shown below. A materials handling system is also provided to stage tubes and move them in and out of the laser engraver, then on to an Integrity Analyzer.

Actually, the tube is marked with an oxide coating. No structural changes are made and the process underwent extensive testing before being put into production to assure absolute safe operation of the rods while in the reactor.

In the version shown below, the tube moves into the laser from the right, but mirror image versions have also been produced. We have supplied these markers to all major U.S. manufacturers. In fact, this marker is the standard for the nuclear industry in the United States.
