Here you see the Material Handling system which moves tubes from an input rack, on the right, into the Laser Marker, back out again, then onto an output rack, on the left. The output rack stages the tubes for manual removal in a stand-alone situation. |

In this version, instead of an output rack, there is an automatic feed device , which feeds the tubes into the next machine, a Tube Structural Integrity Analyzer (see Gallery Page). |

The Materials Handling System consists of several stations, which are necessary to provide a continuous flow of product, as well accept different length tubes, registered at the end away from the Laser Marker. In this picture you see the stations. Note the chain conveyor for moving tubes from one end of the machine to the other. The tubes travel on rollers to prevent marring of their surfaces. |

After the tubes are moved from the opposite end of the machine, they are placed in a station equipped with a drive roller which is servo driven. It moves the tube through a chuck, through the marking chamber, and decelerates precisely to a stop against a moveable end stop. |

This picture shows
half of the marking chamber (on the left) and the chuck on the
right. The chuck was custom designed to handle the full range
of tube sizes and to prevent any laser light leaks so that FDA
Class 1 Operation could be achieved. The Chuck grasps the tube
while it is marked by the laser (focused through the tube in
the top of the chamber). The barcode is applied in 120 degree
segments, therefore the Chuck must rotate three times for each barcode. |

Here the end stop is shown, along with the other half of the Marking Chamber. The End Stop and the Drive roller Servo are both pre-programmed for the particular place a customer desires to have the barcode marked on the tube. NOTE: This picture and the previous one are a different version of the machine from the pictures showing the material handling (they are mirror images). |

This a different type of end stop. Various versions of end stops have been provided to meet different customer's needs. |

This shows the rollers in the end stop which protect the tube while it is rotated. Similar rollers are used in the Chuck. All rollers are quick change where required for different tube diameter ranges. |
